Not Guilty’ is verdict in trial of murder of Cayman Islands Special Olympian
Jose Sanchez was found ‘Not Guilty’ in a judge alone trial by Grand Court Justice, Charles Quin, on Thursday (4) for the murder of 24-year-old Special Olympics gold medalist Solomon Webster.
Webster was shot dead on September 7th 2014 in a yard in West Bay around 8:30pm.
Sanchez had been confronted by Shaquille Bush and a fight ensued in which Webster joined.
Although witnesses say the fight no one actually saw the gun produced nor the shooting.
The judge said he was unable to decide who had fired the shot. Was it Webster who accidentally fired the shot and killed himself? Did the third man, Bush, fire the gun or was it the accused, Sanchez?
Who brought the firearm?
Justice Quin said he could not speculate and therefore he found the Crown’s case against Sanchex ‘unproven’ that automatically meant a verdict of ‘Not Guilty’.
