Notice of death of Merrill Lilian Bryan

Merrill Lilian Bryan, affectionately known as Minnie, was born on 24th April, 1931, in Spot Bay, Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands to Lilian Louise Wright and Murray H. Ryan. She lived in Cayman Brac, Little Cayman and Jamaica before settling in Grand Cayman. She resided in Northward, Grand Cayman since 1975 and enjoyed working in her flower gardens, tending her plants and various kinds of fruit trees.

She loved the art of cooking and did so for many years at hotels and restaurants on the Island. She extended hospitality to family, friends and strangers alike. Minnie died at the George Town Hospital on Tuesday, 4th June, 2013, at 82 years of age.

She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on 22nd May, 1994, and remained an active Witness until the very day of her death.

She is preceded in death by grandson Joshua Shane Gilman and brother Vandell Hurlston.

She is survived by her six children: Barbara Ryan-Palman (husband Frederick) of Jasper, Texas; Charles Bodden (wife Yvonne), Robert Bodden (wife Dawn), Claudette Bodden-Gaustad (husband Jon) all of Grand Cayman; Desiree Bryan of Greenville, Florida; and Newana Miller (husband Rodney) of Grand Cayman.

Eighteen grandchildren: Jason Bodden, Charles Gilman, Fiona Berry, Shahla Powery, Stefan Bodden, Chandra Bodden, James Gilman, Vanessa Bodden, Alyssa Pennell, Aimee Gilman, Sarah Gilman, Kyra Bodden, Natalia Thompson, Yannick Ebanks, Amber McCoy, Cassidy Ebanks and Kallista Ebanks.

Two step-grandchildren: Natalie Wood and Shahine McLaughlin

Fourteen great-grandchildren: Cheyenne, Brandon, Adrian, Lilly, Jayde, Jaydon, Luis, Nevaeh, Jayna, Charles, Carey, Canaan, Jaydan and Mason.

Six step-great grandchildren: Collin, Kevin and Zackary Redden-Bodden, Jerrica, Jerdana and Jernaye Wood. Four sisters: Valda Dixon of Grand Cayman, Mia Hurlstone of Tampa, Florida, Sandra Evans of Kissimmee, Florida, and Jennie Mae Lawrence of Grand Cayman.

One brother: Norris Hurlston of West Bay, Grand Cayman.

Nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
