Color.Logo w-reg.outline 3-inchGEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman, Jan 08, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) — O2Micro International Limited OIIM -0.34%  , a global leader in the design, development and marketing of high-performance integrated circuits and solutions, is pleased to announce its participation in Lighting Japan 2014, January 15 – 17.

Lighting Japan 2014, a composition of three shows – the LED/OLED Lighting Technology Expo, LED/OLED Light Expo, and Design Lighting Tokyo 2014 – will be held at the Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo, Japan. O2Micro will demonstrate its LED General Lighting products in the LED/OLED Light Expo section of the show room floor, booth number East 46-16.

“We are excited about this Expo and opportunity to exhibit our General Lighting products publically,” said Dr. Yung Lin, executive vice president, O2Micro. “O2Micro will showcase commercially available LED bulbs that embed O2Micro’s LED Driver controllers and patented Free Dimming(TM) technology to enable advanced dimming functionality using a standard on/off switch.”

O2Micro’s Free Dimming technology offers many benefits to LED lighting manufacturers and consumers. It works with any non-dimming on/off switch and the billions of sockets that do not have dimmers. By eliminating dimmer cost and installation, it is a great value and easy to use. It does not have any flicker or audible hum, making it appealing compared to problematic TRIAC dimming solutions.

For OEMs, Free Dimming technology is also less expensive and has higher efficiency than traditional TRIAC dimmable LED drivers. It supports universal 85V to 265V operation, enabling one SKU to serve the global marketplace. It supports a wide range of retrofit bulb form factors and power levels, and has the lowest BOM cost and smallest footprint.

O2Micro offers a rapidly expanding portfolio of LED Driver controllers for applications ranging from low power candle bulbs to high power street lights. The company offers solutions that support a wide range of topologies for both isolated and non-isolated applications. With non-dimming, traditional TRIAC dimming and O2Micro’s patented Free Dimming controllers, O2Micro has a solution for any general lighting application.
