Obesity shortens life by 8 years

Apollo Nida, who used to appear on “Real Housewives of Atlanta” with wife Phaedra Parks, was sentenced to eight years in prison (less than the possible 30 years) for cashing stolen checks and attempting to launder more than $2.3 million through falsified bank accounts.
According to researchers in Canada, that’s about the same sentence you’ll get if you’re obese. Here’s why:
A study in The Lancet found that very obese men ages 20-39 die eight years earlier than their healthy peers, and lose around 16 years’ worth of good-quality day-to-day living!
Those extra pounds lead to heart disease and Type 2 diabetes and all its complications.
The study also reveals that folks who are obese (instead of morbidly obese) face startling life-shortening sentences — up to six years of life evaporates!
Never has it been clearer that arresting and banning the Five Food Felons (grains that aren’t 100 percent whole, added sugars and syrups, and trans and sat fats), getting daily physical activity (at least 30 extra minutes of walking, heading for 10,000 steps a day), and managing stress will make you younger.
Apollo could have gotten 30 years, but he cooperated with the authorities and got away with an eight-year sentence. You can cooperate by making healthy lifestyle choices and get your do-over to live a younger and healthier life!
