Draw to take place Wednesday, November 4 in San Pedro Sula

Miami (Thursday, October 29, 2015) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) confirmed today the programming for the official draw for the CONCACAF Under-20 Women’s Championship Honduras 2015. The draw will take place on Wednesday, November 4 at 10:00 AM local time (11:00 am ET). The event will be conducted at the Hotel Real Intercontinental in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and will be streamed live via CONCACAF.com.

The draw will sort the eight qualified nations set to participate in the championship into two groups of four teams for the tournament. The event is scheduled for the Estadio Francisco Morazan and Olympic Stadium in San Pedro Sula, from December 3-13, 2015.

Four pots will be utilized: two (1 and 2) for the teams and two (A and B) for group position. As host, Honduras will be seeded in position A1. United States, the defending champion, will be seeded in position B1 and also drawn from Pot 1 alongside the remaining North American entrants: Canada and Mexico. Pot 2 will be comprised of Central American qualifying champion Panama, along with the three Caribbean representatives: CFU Champion Haiti, runner-up Jamaica and third-place side Trinidad & Tobago.

The pots for the draw will therefore be designated as follows:

Pot 1 (Host and North America): Honduras, Canada, Mexico, USA
Pot 2 (UNCAF and Caribbean): Panama, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago
Pot A (Seeding for Group A): Four balls with a group positions, 1-4
Pot B (Seeding for Group B): Four balls with a group positions, 1-4

Following the drawing of Honduras into Group A as the seeded team, the remaining teams will be drawn one by one from Pot 1. The second team drawn will be the U.S., which goes to Group B. The third team drawn then goes to Group A, with its position drawn from Pot A – the positioning pot for that group. The final team drawn from Pot 1 goes to Group B.

The procedure will then be repeated for regional pot 2, continuing to alternate placement of the nation drawn into Groups A and B by turn, until the balls are exhausted and groups are full.

The CONCACAF Under-20 Women’s Championship Honduras 2015 is scheduled to be played December 3 – 13, 2015, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The tournament will qualify four teams directly to the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup Papua New Guinea 2016.
