One Man One Vote WILL be enacted in Cayman Islands before next election
In another about turn – 360 degrees – Premier Alden McLaughlin has now announced at a press conference this morning (Wed 3) the Cayman Islands will have single member electoral districts with each elector having one vote.
The government said that after “taking into account the significant increase in the number of registered electors, proposed changes in the number of electoral districts and proposed changes in the number of elected members of the Legislative Assembly.”
The Governor will now be asked to form an Electoral Boundary Commission to determine the boundaries of the electoral districts of the Cayman Islands to enable each elector to have one vote.
