The truly Honourable Saboto Caesar is a young, brilliant, energetic, community activist, advocate and politician. A lawyer by profession, Caesar was born and raised in the constituency of South Central Windward. He is a devout Christian and a family-oriented young man. His mother and father are much respected preachers and Saboto was brought up in a Christian environment, with true Christian values.

He holds wide-ranging professional experiences, garnered from his Christian Upbringing, Tertiary Education, Community Worker, Teacher, Lawyer, Government Senator, elected Member of Parliament and Government Minister.

He has worked with numerous sporting and cultural groups, and maintains an active interest in football, basketball, cricket and netball. His work with the farming community and primary, secondary and tertiary level students; have been exemplary.

Saboto is a born leader, not a follower. He can think and talk for himself and is very competent in doing so. Whilst most of us have recently witnessed that Camillo in some personal matters needs his father to talk for him.

He has served as Junior Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; Minister of Housing, Lands and Survey, Physical Planning, Informal Human Settlement and Local Government; Minister of Tourism and Industry; and currently he is the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Rural transformation and Industry.

Yet despite all of that and his excellent qualifications he has been held back from progress in government because preference has been given by the prime minister Dr Ralph E Gonsalves to his son Camillo Gonsalves a man of lesser qualifications. Saboto has been hog tied in the lesser ministries whilst Camillo has leapfrogged over him to hold a number of premier posts. But we must ask, just as Sabotto must ask himself, should it not be he who is Minister of Finance, because he is better qualified? Master of Laws degree. Saboto is a very intelligent young man and must be aware that Camillo Gonsalves has held all the prime positions because his father is grooming him to take over the ULP Party leadership and to slot into the position as prime minster when his father retires. It’s quite obvious to see that the intention is to create a family dynasty which excludes Saboto and simply shoves him into a dark cupboard under the stairs. He has not been given equal opportunity to gain the experience that Camillo has been afforded. But we must ask, just as Sabotto must ask himself, should it not be he who is considered as prime minister?

Unfortunately Saboto like so many Vincentians actually believed that the Unity Labour Party was the old Labour Party of Saint Vincent, it is not. It is a nasty Marxist led regime that pretends to be a moderate labour regime.

The recent behaviour by the ULP in Parliament should send any person with real Christian values running for cover, hiding their face, and asking the good Lord for guidance.

I feel so sorry for Saboto Caesar for the predicament he finds himself in, but he must gather himself up and do what in his heart he knows is right.

Proverbs 4:14 Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Do not enter the path of the wicked And do not proceed in the way of evil men. …. keep no company, with them; do not set one foot in the path they tread, lest thou shouldest be tempted to proceed to more ungodliness; you do not know where and when there will be a stop, when once you begin, therefore enter not.

You must dwell in the company of evil no longer. Cross the Floor and Close the Door.
