PETER BINOSE: Immoral thieves?
Is the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Government simply a bunch of immoral thieves?
Has Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Government under the rule of the Unity Labour Party been stealing from the people for the last fourteen years?
The government owned bank plundered by government and ministries forced to be sold to pay the debts.
The government super market in Kingstown plundered by politicians and party hacks, so many debts the government was forced to dispose of it and lease it out.
61 people at Argyle who had their land taken from them for the airport remain unpaid for their land ten years after payment was due. They still remain unpaid and they do not look like being paid anytime soon.
For fourteen years they have been stealing hundreds of millions of dollars of Rabacca aggregate from the river bed belonging to the riparian owners of Rabacca and also other local river beds. They even allowed the Taiwanese to steal Rabacca aggregate from the river bed and sell it. The government do not own the river bed the land owners either side of the river own to the centre of the river, it’s called riparian ownership and is well establish in law.
They have stolen a one mile long fifty foot high black sand bund at Brighton belonging to the land owners there. Dug it up transported it and sold it for multi millions of dollars. It is not part of the beach because it had vegetation growing on it; therefore in the direct ownership of the adjacent land owner, this is well established in law.
A group of Kingstown traders have been owed multi millions of dollars by the ULP government now for a number of years. They still remain unpaid and they do not look like being paid anytime soon.
The citizens have been stolen from when the prime minister tells lies, theft of the truth. They are still being fed lies and it doesn’t look to stop any time soon. Two things ring in the near past history, when Gonsalves told the country, told the world, “I sometimes tell lies” “show me a liar and I will show you a thief”. He was charged with rape and sexual assault by two different women with a number of others making written complaints. The DPP squashed everything, no court cases no jury trials.
Marcus De Freitus remains unpaid even after a court found in his favor after the government had tried to undervalue the land they compulsorily purchased from him. He still remains unpaid and does not look like being paid anytime soon.
Mr Toussaint remains unpaid for his land in Canuan even after a court found in his favor after the government had tried to make believe he underpaid for land he purchased, in the mean time they compulsorily purchased his land, the House of Lords ordered him to be repaid and compensated. He still remains unpaid and does not look like being paid anytime soon.
The large quantity of plywood purchased from a Jamaican company is actually manufactured in Brazil who we have diplomatic relations with, they have an embassy here. We could have purchased that direct from Brazil at just under half the price on a Brazilian Export Credit. WHY BUY FROM JAMAICA?
A large quantity of galvanized roofing sheets purchased from a Jamaican company when we have a company here in SVG which the government are major shareholders, they are one of the Caribbean’s largest converters of sheet galvanize rolls into formed roofing sheets. We could have purchased that direct from EC Mills at Camden Park for a substantially lower price and on credit. WHY BUY FROM JAMAICA?
The government have purchased large amounts for multi millions of dollars from Jamaica and is being given away by the ULP political party via their constituency representatives, people who are recognized as labour party supporters are asked to submit list’s for fulfillment without any enquiry into if they actually need it or not. It’s government property being shared out by the ULP.
Two air bridges purchased for Argyle airport through a Caribbean agent when we could have gone direct to the UK manufacturers who could have offered us UK Export Credit facilities. WHY USE A CARIBBEAN ACQUISITION AGENT?
We must not forget about the US$1 million dollars cash in dollar bills. A senator took it to the NCB bank and asked them to exchange it for EC$s, where did that come from, why did the Financial authority fail to act and why did the police make no enquiries?
Remember granny’s saying “there is no smoke without fire” I sincerely hope that we can get answers to all of those items that I list above because a raging fire is burning in the minds of many intelligent Vincentians.
One thing for sure our youth learn from what they see and hear I just hope that government behavior is not having a gross adverse effect on their futures.
