There’s no formal Cayman Islands Film Commission. This affects local businesses and young Caymanians. Film productions spend a lot of money on our islands and provide young Caymanians with valuable experience.   

We need to write the Film Commission into Legislature in order to attract more film productions to the island. In order to do this we need to first conduct an Economic Impact Assessment on film production in the Cayman Islands. The results of the EIA is the only thing that will convince the government to take action. This petition is for the Cayman Islands Government to conduct the Economic Impact Assessment. 

I’m a Badir Awe, a producer in the Cayman Islands and I’m starting this petition because I’ve worked with film productions on island and I’ve seen firsthand the positive economic and cultural impact they can have on our country.
