Pink Ladies Donate US $10,000 to the Caring for Life Foundation
The Caring for Life Foundation today announces the receipt of a generous US $10,000 donation from the Pink Ladies, one of the Cayman Islands’ most active and respected volunteer organisations. The funds will be used by the Foundation to assist HSA with the purchase of needed medical equipment and other resources to help improve healthcare in the Cayman Islands.
Ms Jane Moon, Secretary of Pink Ladies, presented the donation to Sharon Diaz and Sarah Hobbs, Chairperson, and Deputy Chairperson, respectively, of the Caring for Life Foundation. “The foundation is near and dear to our hearts,” says Ms Moon, “as Pink Ladies have had a longstanding commitment to a number of health-related initiatives in our community over the years. We know that these funds will be put straight to good use on priority projects for the hospitals. Every dollar helps to improve healthcare right here at home, and that’s an important goal for our entire community.”
Sharon Diaz, Chairwoman of the Foundation, says “We were very pleasantly surprised when we learned that at the recent General Meeting of the Pink Ladies, it was decided that Caring for Life would be the recipient of this significant contribution to our fundraising efforts. We would like to thank the Pink Ladies not only for this donation, but for all they do year in and year out, to support community projects through their voluntary efforts and tireless dedication to helping others.”
The mission of the Caring for Life Foundation is to help improve healthcare for all Cayman Islands residents by raising funds to assist the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority. In addition to today’s US $10,000 donation from the Pink Ladies, the Foundation’s Scotiabank Golf Tournament in February netted more than CI$25,500 to be put towards this goal. Funds raised by the Caring for Life Foundation are used to purchase needed hospital equipment and other resources to improve patient care.
The Pink Ladies have been volunteering and raising money for community projects in Grand Cayman since the Corps was established in 1980 by Olive Miller, MBE, JP and Evelyn Andresen.
During these more than 30 years, Pink Ladies have helped to support deserving organisations in the community, raising much-needed funds for The Pines Retirement Home; The George Town Hospital and the Health Services Authority; the NCVO; the Lighthouse School, Special Olympics and many other important causes.
Since it was first created, the Caring for Life Foundation has supported a number of projects, including the purchase of diagnostic equipment to test the hearing of all infants born at the Cayman Islands Hospitals, as well as other needed supplies.
