Pirates Week Food Handlers Need Certification

All individuals planning to serve food or manage food stalls during the 2013 Pirates Week Festival must have up-to-date food handler’s certifications from the Department of Environmental Health (DEH). All food handlers needing certification are encouraged to register.
Courses are being held on the following dates to accommodate persons who need training:-
• October 30, 2013 Basic Hygiene for Grand Cayman
• October 28, 2013 Basic Hygiene for Cayman Brac & Little Cayman
There is a $15 registration fee which includes course materials.
In Grand Cayman, courses will be held at the DEH office at Cayman Islands Environmental Centre, located at 580 North Sound Road, and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Payment can be made at the DEH Office.
In Cayman Brac, the course will be held on Monday 28 October at the District Administration Building in Stake Bay, and will run from 9am to 4:30pm. Payment can be made at the District Administration Building.
At the end of the course, food handlers will have the knowledge to prevent food-borne illness and the spread of disease. Certification is for three years, and persons who want to continue as food handlers must renew the certification once it expires.
