Prison escapee charged and due in court
Steve Manderson, one of the three men who escaped from HMP Northward on 14 August 2013, has been charged and is due in court.
Manderson was recaptured following a police operation in the Frank Sound area on 28 August and has now been charged with one count of escaping lawful custody.
It is anticipated that he will appear in court Tuesday, 15 October.
Imitation firearm recovered, two in custody
Two men, aged 20 and 22 years, have been arrested and are currently detained in police custody following the recovery of an imitation firearm in the Savannah area last night, Sunday 13 October.
About 11.23pm on Sunday, officers from the Uniform Support Group attended a house off Hirst Road, Savannah. Two men were found to be in the process of constructing an object at that location. The object was found to be an imitation firearm and the men were subsequently arrested. The imitation firearm was seized and the men remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
Robbery – School Road
The RCIPS is currently investigating a robbery which occurred on School Road, George Town, on Saturday 12 October at approximately 9.00pm.
At this time, two female occupants of a vehicle were siting talking to a male on School Road when all three were approached by two masked persons. One appeared to be armed with a small handgun and the second person with a machete. A quantity of cash and two cellular phones along with some other personal items were stolen. A search of the area by responding police officers recovered one of the mobile phones and some of the personal items.
The descriptions given of the two suspects are 1) six feet tall with a slim build 2) five feet five inches with a stout build. Both were wearing dark clothing, masks covering their faces and gloves.

Attempted Robbery – Rear of Corner Restaurant
The RCIPS is currently investigating a report of an attempted robbery that took place at the rear of “The Corner” restaurant on Eastern Avenue.
This incident occurred at approximately 5.45pm on Friday 11 October, when the victim went to the location to collect some money owed to him. While at the rear of the premises two males attempted to rob him but he managed to get away and contact the police. No weapons were reported to have been used in the incident and no injuries received by the victim.
