Popular types and advantages of home wind turbines
Sources of renewable energy are increasingly replacing non-renewable ones due to obvious reasons. The growing level of application of renewable sources of energy is also a catalyzing factor in the huge growth in its demand. This involves the usage of the sources even at the individual and household levels. Now, you might have come across giant windmills that are often found alongside the highways and city suburbs. They carry the huge potential of generating renewable energy. This is why they are now available even in miniature forms named as Home wind Turbines or Residential Turbines. These turbines are of two types:
- Horizontal axis – These can be called the face of wind turbines as they are the most commonly found and used. They are made of upwind oscillating propellers with three blades. The number is kept three to magnify the wind-push in order to generate maximum energy output. They are pretty heavier than the vertical axis ones and are widely used for industrial purposes since their conception using engineering innovations.
- Vertical axis – Vertical axis wind turbines are designed using a rotational axis that is attached perpendicularly and firmly to the ground. These turbines are now being extremely popular in the industrial sector despite being a design for households. This owes to the fact that vertical axis turbines can capture winds from all directions, thereby maximizing the output and making them a favorite choice for units in stormy weather places.
The advantages of having small home wind turbines
Renewable Source
The foremost and obvious benefit that comes along with wind energy sources is renewability. The source provides completely clean and renewable energy as it works over on the winds that are a regular atmospheric phenomenon. Besides this, it helps in providing you with a power supply in case of failures especially if you live in places with harsh weather conditions.
Financial advantage
Now, installing and having sources of renewable energy like wind energy can be a costly affair initially. But because of it being a global necessity, they come with financial aids and installment payment facilities. Also, the initial cost incurred can be recovered over time with the savings in power bills using wind energy. Another great financial advantage is that you can sell the excess accumulated energy to any local power unit and earn money. You can also qualify for having Tax benefits at localized or national levels.
Eco-Friendly alternative
Having a home wind turbine installed at your home helps you to save the environment. This is because you will consume less power coming from traditional sources that use fossil fuels for generating power. This will reduce the combustion in turn reducing the release of carbon and other harmful gases. When this alternative is pursued on a large scale, it helps in collective conservation of the environment as well as savings and investment on the economical front. For learning more about Home wind Turbines, you can visit Beupp.com.
I think you have your facts wrong, at least for the sister islands. You say “Another great financial advantage is that you can sell the excess accumulated energy to any local power unit and earn money.” but in fact a home cannot be connected to CBP&L and home-generated electricity (Solar or Wind) at the same time. Not sure about the rules on Grand and CUC. So excess power cannot be sold back to the utility, or subtracted from your meter reading. Mr. Tibbetts will be able to explain more details.
The writer of the article was not just talking about the Cayman islands. Thank you for your comment.
