16 unique portraits that capture genuine emotion

Last week, Mashablee challenged you to capture genuine personality in portraits.

The #MashPics_Portraits hashtag is a collection of the finest photography — candid photos of playful children, intense black and white images that focus on just the face, shots that play with shadow and more.

Our guest host was De Kwong, an Australia-based photographer known as @twistdee on Instagram.

“I love how supportive the community on Instagram is,” she said. “Though I won’t get a chance to meet most of the people I interact with regularly, I still consider them as friends.”

Kwong is well-loved for her creative portraits — she often uses unusual props and unique settings to add an extra level of authenticity to her photos. “I love how portraits can evoke so many different emotions and moods,” she said.
