Pretty in pink to help vets

Looking a pretty picture all dressed in pink, red or white, kids at George Town Primary School and their parents were celebrating Valentine’s Day by giving back to the community, and to their own school as well.

“The first thing we have is Valentines for Veterans,” explained GTPS head Marie Martin.

“The children have ‘dressed down’ in red white or pink for a ‘fee’ of two dollars each and the funds collected were presented to Mr. Graham Walker, Hon. Secretary of the Veterans Association.”

Altogether the kids raised CI$100 for the Veterans. “The money will go towards our funds dedicated to the assistance of some of the older veterans,” Mr. Walker said.

The tiniest tots at school – Reception and Year One kids were buying beautiful red or white carnations for two dollars each to take home to their moms and dads, and that money was going towards the schools’ Parent Teacher Association fund.

Year Two kids were buying pink cup cakes to take home – with the money going towards buying school supplies.

“During the month of February we focus on the character values of caring and empathy, so we also going to the Pines Retirement Home, to present a basket of supplies for our senior citizens,” Ms Martin added.
