Programme Manager at Red Cross shortlisted for Commonwealth award
Carolina Muniz Ferreira, Deputy Director and HIV/AIDS Programme Manager at the Cayman Islands Red Cross, has been selected as one of the regional finalists for the 2013 Commonwealth Youth Worker Award.
Ms. Ferreira has been with Cayman’s Red Cross for 10 years, and in 2003 she was hired as the organisation’s Programme Manager. Before that she began working with the programme’s co-coordinator to implement an HIV and AIDS peer education programme at the Cayman High School.
The Youth Worker Awards 2013 will be held on Wednesday, 30 October at the Commonwealth Secretariat’s headquarters in London, UK. The winner of the Commonwealth Youth Worker Award will be announced at the event.
The Youth Worker Awards are part of Youth Work Week 2013, which will run from 4 to 10 November. Youth Work Week raises awareness of the valuable role youth work plays in empowering and supporting young people.
For the second year The Commonwealth will partner with the UK National Youth Agency to ensure the message reaches people across The Commonwealth’s 54 countries.
The other regional finalists are from Guyana, Jamaica, St. Vincent and Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.
