Purple Dragon to host summer Karate Kamp
Youngsters looking for a fun and exciting way to spend their summer should look to taking part in Purple Dragon’s Karate Kamp. Now in its twelfth year, Purple Dragon’s popular summer camp offers young people the chance to explore the island, have fun and get fit, all at the same time.
Summer will be upon us before we know it, so parents are encouraged to start thinking now about enrolling their children in some of the fun activities that Karate Kamp has to offer. Offering flexible programmes to suit all needs, the Karate Kamp gives youngsters the chance to participate for as little as a half day, all the way through to multiple week bookings.
Sensei Floyd Baptiste and Sensei Geddes Hislop have been running educational summer camps for children for the last twelve years and they are delighted to be able to offer Purple Dragon’s brand new centre (or ‘dojo’), located at the Mirco Centre, as a base for the summer camp fun
“Karate Kamp offers so much for young people,” Sensei Floyd says. “Training sessions are mixed with other activities such as field trips, arts and crafts, and educational lectures by guest speakers to stimulate young minds and raise awareness of the world around them. We make sure we get out and about exploring nature with heritage treks and trail walks and we go fishing, have picnics and enjoy beach days, so there is really something for everyone.”
Health and fitness are important for the mind, body and spirit, Sensei Floyd says, and with this in mind Karate Kamp focuses on having fun while building coordination, balance, attentiveness and cultivating discipline.
Parents can also have some fun because the Kamp also includes a sleepover, so parents get the night off!
Karate Kamp takes place from July 9th to August 24th, 2012, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Purple Dragon offers competitive prices and discounts will be given for multiple children and multiple week participation. Spaces are limited so contact them today at E-mail [email protected], or call 946-1241 or visit Purple Dragon’s website www.purpledragon.ky for more information and to download a registration form.
