The Cayman Islands today (Saturday, 11 June) celebrated the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Senior government officials gathered with other dignitaries and members of the public to observe the ceremony, held in front of the Legislative Assembly building in George Town. The programme included the traditional parade by uniformed services, a royal salute, 21-gun salute and three cheers for Queen Elizabeth II.
At the ceremony prominent accountant and civic leader Mr. Layman Daniel “Dan” Scott received the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal.
Members of the public who attended the ceremony were gifted with a Queen’s Birthday 90th Birthday Commemorative Button. The button was designed by Government Information Service’s Graphic Designer Kara Coe especially for the celebrations.
