Rare Dolphin Sighting – Grand Cayman

On August 19th during a fishing trip just northeast of the West Bay, we saw a pod of Pantropical Spotted dolphins.

The captain was like a little kid during Christmas morning and started calling all his friends with the coordinates.

He estimated 60-90 in the pod. Probably at least three times that number in the whole pod. In one small screen grab you can count about 37 or 40 dolphins.

Toward the middle of the video if you look carefully at the top of the screen you will see dolphins EVERYWHERE. It looks like the surf is breaking but those are dolphins! And also look at all the calves toward the end as they mirror their moms perfectly.

Thanks to Captain Jon and the crew at Slackem Charters for this great experience!

The video was made with a GoPro Hero 2 and a long monopod.
