Charities Benefit from RBC “Day of Service” Grants

RBC is celebrating Volunteer Week around the globe from April 21 – 27, 2013. In honour of this event, RBC has launched the 2013 RBC Day of Service Grant programme, which offers a $1,000 donation to charitable organizations where RBC employees plan and execute volunteer projects between April 21 and June 14, 2013.

“RBC employees are passionate volunteers,” said Mr. Nathaniel Beneby, Jr., Market Head, Personal Banking in Cayman, The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. “Our staff lends their energy and expertise to organizations and initiatives that affect virtually every aspect of our communities. The RBC Day of Service Grant programme gives us the opportunity to further encourage volunteering, while extending financial support to local charities in our communities who desperately need it.”

RBC employees are signing up to plan projects that span many areas of need. One team of employees from the RBC Cayman Service Centre will be volunteering to support Cayman Hospice Care (CHC), while supporting the “green” movement on the island. Fourteen RBC employees and family members will be selling CHC reusable bags outside the supermarkets on April 27 and May 25 with funds going directly to support the ongoing free service of CHC. In addition, RBC will donate the $1,000 Day of Service Grant to CHC.

“The vision of CHC is to provide extraordinary end of life care to all people living in the Cayman Islands,” said Ms. Salene Bushell, Manager, Cayman Service Centre. “CHC is the leading community resource in the areas of death, dying and grief, and is dedicated to providing dignified, quality care, free of charge, to everyone in the Cayman Islands living with cancer or other end -stage diseases. We are pleased to lend our time to support this organization.”

Contributions support a range of causes, from health, education and the environment to human services, youth and arts and culture.
