RBC hosts its 2023 Global Citizens Conference in The Bahamas

NASSAU (THE BAHAMAS) – JANUARY 26, 2024 — In a powerful testament to human connection
and dedication, RBC Royal Bank celebrated the exceptional commitment of nearly 100 colleagues from
across the globe, during the RBC Global Citizens Conference, held from January 18-23, in The Bahamas.
The award, which was started in 2016, celebrates employees who are active volunteers both inside and
outside of RBC, and who create positive social change through their actions. The recipients, including
four from the Caribbean – Roxanna Cordner, Trinidad & Tobago; Wendy Riberio, Trinidad & Tobago;
Joanaila Geerman-Lacle, Aruba; Claricia Hart-Sprott, St. Maarten – were recognized for going above
and beyond to breathe life into RBC’s purpose of helping communities prosper. As part of the activities,
donations were also made to two Bahamian NGOs.

Award recipients Roxanna Cordner and Claricia Hart-Sprott expressed profound gratitude and
inspiration.

“It is great to be among people who do so much for their community and it’s just an overwhelming feeling for me coming from the tiny island of Tobago to see everybody else from all over the world do their part in order to make this world a better place,” Cordner said.

“I’ve met some lovely colleagues from all around RBC and it’s just amazing what connectivity, teamwork,
and collaboration can accomplish when we work together. The activities that we have participated in
help build community and show the strength of the RBC family,” Hart-Sprott said.

The conference provides recipients and their guests with cultural immersion through community
activations, volunteering, networking with like-minded peers from around the world, and an opportunity
to interact with top executives – plus some fun!

“As we celebrate the remarkable dedication of our RBC Global Citizens, we’re reminded of the power of
collective action,” said LaSonya Missick, RBC’s Managing Director, The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.
“The commitment of these individuals to our core purpose of helping communities prosper, is not just
inspiring, it’s a driving force for the positive impact we aim to achieve globally. Their passion and
leadership in community engagement reach far beyond their day-to-day roles and exemplify what it truly
means to be a Global Citizen,” she added.

During the conference, the Global Citizens engaged in two hands-on community initiatives with The
Bahamas National Trust (BNT) and the Agricultural Development Organization (ADO). These initiatives
serve to underscore the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainability, echoing RBC’s
commitment to nurturing the environment.

In addition to the Global Citizens volunteering at BNT and ADO, RBC further demonstrated its
commitment to community and environmental sustainability by donating BSD $10,000 to each of the
organizations. These contributions will aid in furthering their vital missions, providing resources to
sustain and expand their impactful programs.

Last year, the Bank donated BSD $20,000 to the BNT to support its ongoing work to protect The
Bahamas environment. The donation was part of a stop over to The Bahamas that also celebrated that
year’s Global Citizen recipients. Furthermore, the Bank contributed an additional BSD $50,000 to ADO
to assist in funding the development of community greenhouse gardens and providing backyard garden
kits to neighborhoods throughout The Bahamas.
