RCIPS investigation of New Year’s Day Robberies more information
Further to the two stories we published earlier re two New Year’s day robberies in North Church Street and Goring Avenue the RCIPS have issued further information:
UPDATE: The first robbery at North Church Street 4.15am, was opposite the Kirks Supermarket entrance. The victim, a 21 year old male was approached by 3 males who got out of a silver Honda Integra. The victim was assaulted and fell to the ground and cash and jewelry were taken from him. A fourth male was within the vehicle. The offenders left in the vehicle heading towards George Town.
Description of offenders, all aged approx. 21 years
1. Brown complexion, medium build, approx. 5’6″, low cut black hair
2. Clear complexion, medium build, approx. 5’7″ small moustache and beard around the chin
3. Brown complexion, brownish coloured hair in braids and small moustache
4. Brown complexion, black hair in single plait braids and styled cuts to the eyebrow
ORIGINAL: The first incident occurred at about 0415hrs along North Church Street, in which a male pedestrian was approached by 4 young males who assaulted him and stole his jewellery and wallet. It is believed that the four males then left the scene in a silver coloured motorcar.
UPDATE: The second street robbery was at approx 9.20pm when a 38 year old male was approached by 3 males at Goring Avenue, one of the males threw a bottle in the victim’s direction before the offenders pulled the victim to the ground and removed jewelry, cash and a black Alcatel smart phone before running off into a car park by Miss Keppie Lane.
The offenders are aged between 17 and 20 years (approx.)
1. 5’10” slim, brown complexion, wearing white marina
2. 5’10” dark complexion, black pullover hoodie and black washout jeans
3. 5’5″ dark complexion , wearing plaid long pants and afro style hair
ORIGINAL: The second incident occurred at about 2115hrs in the vicinity of Goring Ave. And Miss Kippy Ln. In which a male pedestrian was approched by 3 males, one of who was armed with a knife. The males demanded that the victim hand over all valuables in his possession. This was done; afterwhich the purpitrators proceeded to assault the victim before making good their escape on foot.
UPDATE: Both victims received minor injuries.
The robberies appear to be random opportunist attacks.
By virtue of the descriptions provided, it would appear the robberies may not be connected, however, we cannot rule it out.
The public is asked to call crime stoppers should they have any information relative to either of these incidents.
