Drug Arrests-Cayman Brac

19 year old female resident of Cayman Brac has been charged for drug offences by officers from the Cayman Brac Police Station.

The accused was arrested after police executed a warrant at a Spot Bay address on Thursday 4th December 2014. There, a 37 year old male was also arrested and approximately two pounds of ganja was seized.

The female resident will appear in court on Thursday 29th January 2015 in Cayman Brac. The 37 year old male appeared in court on Grand Cayman and both remain on bail.

Just after 11:00am, Thursday 4th December 2014 the Joint Marine Unit (JMU) together with other Cayman Brac Uniform officers, Customs K9 executed a search warrant under the Misuse Of Drugs Law at a residence on Spot Bay Road, Cayman Brac. As the officers were about to search the residence the occupier, a 37 year old male ran off into the Bluff Area.

A search of the residence was done and approximately two pounds of vegetable matter resembling ganja was recovered.A search of the bluff area was also conducted by officers assisted by RCIPS Air Support Unit.

The 37 year old male and a 19 year old female were arrested for possession of a controlled drug with intent to Supply, Possession and Consumption of a Controlled Drug.

The female suspect has since been interviewed and bailed, the male suspect remains in custody.

Chief Inspector Owens said, “Again the message is clear that illegal drug activity will not be tolerated, I wish to thank the community for their assistance in keeping illegal drugs off the streets of Cayman Brac and the Sister Islands but more so I want to recognize the excellent proactive work being done by our joint unit.”

George Town Man Charged

At 9:55am, Friday 5th December 2014, a George Town male was charged by officers at George Town Police Station for assaulting police and using threatening, and abusive language.

The arrest relates to an incident on Saturday 11th October 2014, in the parking lot of a West Bay Road Night Club.

He was bailed to appear in summary court on Monday 12th January 2015.

EDITOR: The George Town man is Kenneth Bryan who is  political assistant to Cayman Islands Premier, Alden McLaughlin, and also worked as a reporter for local television station CITN/Cayman27 before running in the 2012 general election where he was unsuccessful.

Bodden Town Man Arrested for Robbery

Approximately 5:02pm Thursday 4th December 2014, the Public Safety Communication Centre (911) received a call from a female who stated that she was along with her two young daughters age 10 years & 2 ½ years in the parking lot of Countryside Shopping Village, Savannah when a man approached her with a knife in his hand and demanded cash. A small amount of cash was handed over to him and he fled from the location.

Police officers responded to the call and shortly after, arrested a 39 year old man from Bodden Town for the offence of robbery. The suspect remains in custody, assisting police with their inquiries and the matter is under investigation by detectives from BTPS – CID.
