Renewable energies, Cuba and the Caribbean main objective
A session on business opportunities in alternative energies, including, a keynote speech by Cuba’s international insurance company, and another by the director of Havana Energy company, Andrew Macdonald, are also scheduled for today.
About 200 experts, scientists and entrepreneurs from more than 20 countries, including Mexico, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, Germany, Canada, Colombia, Greece, Mozambique, United Kingdom, Turkey and Spain are participating in the forum, in which they will debate some 70 papers and keynote speeches.
Nearly 150 works on the most advanced technologies in the production of wind, solar and photovoltaic energy, waste and biomass and biogas will be analyzed.
Joel Morales Salas, president of the organizing committee, said during the opening ceremony that the use of renewable sources and their projection towards the future in Cuba and the Caribbean are the main objectives in the specialists’ agenda.
Morales, who is also the director of the Center for Studies of Renewable Energy Technologies (CETER), stated that the main objective of CIER 2017 is to create synergies that allow to present progress in energy saving from the academic, scientific and business viewpoint.
Organized by CETER, the forum, talking place at Habana Libre Tryp Hotel, is sponsored by a group of institutions and agencies, including the Electricity Engineering and Projects Company and the Ministries of Energy and Mines and Higher Education.
The World Wind Energy Association, the Global Event Partners, AFIL and the Havana Club International, are also on the list.
