Renewable energy gets another spark
CUC confirmed on Wednesday (9) that they have chosen two renewable developers to start talks with them to provide renewable energy to the Grand Cayman power grid.
CUC says it’s considering two 5 megawatt solar plants and one 3 megawatt small scale wind turbine project. Despite asking CUC would not provide any more information as to who the two companies are. It says this information will be announced as soon as the necessary contracts and agreements are finalised. So we wait with baited breath
The projects are expected to be complete within a 2-year time frame.
Caribbean Utilities says in light of rising oil prices and drops in the prices of renewable energy equipment, the time is right to introduce these systems to its power grid.
There’s no one sparking that debate. The sooner the better.
