Renowned pediatric cardiac surgeon arrives to Cayman Islands to share latest advances at The Cayman Heart Fund’s (CHF) 10th Annual International Symposium”
Dr. Bibevski, certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, will elaborate on “Innovative Therapies in Congenital Heart Surgery” and will share insights about a case study from Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. His presentation will focus on the use of artificial heart support for children awaiting heart transplant and the latest product in the market for pediatric valvular repair.
Dr. Bibevski will speak specifically on the use of PediMag (an extracorporeal centrifugal pump recently introduced for the infant population), which has been utilized in the pediatric population for short-term cardiac support, commonly as a bridge to decision or transition to Berlin Heart (the original ventricular assistive device approved for placement in pediatric patients with end-stage heart failure). He will also discuss how a hand-made valve, made by CorMatrix, is helping children unable to benefit from traditional techniques undergo valvular repairs.
