Reuters ICYMI – Travelers journey to Britain, from migrants in the channel to tourists in South Africa.
From Reuters
Shortly after news broke that twenty seven people drowned off the coast of northern France when their dinghy capsized during their attempt to reach Britain, a Reuters team witnessed another group cast off near Wimereux attempting the same treacherous journey despite freezing temperatures. Fortunately, this group of about 40 people, including six children, landed safely on British shores hours later.
Separately, British tourists in South Africa were asked to cut their vacations short after the detection of a new COVID-19 variant. The EU, Britain and India are among those announcing stricter border controls as scientists investigate if the mutation is vaccine resistant.
