Reuters NEXT: A US election deep dive

The 2024 U.S. Presidential election has been a rollercoaster ride, but now is not the time to plead motion sickness – the result of the poll will reverberate through the global economy, climate policy, social issues and geopolitics.

With the two main candidates now settled – we think! – we’re starting to get a little more insight into what doing business will look like under either a Harris or a Trump administration. We took a look at how investors are grappling with the market implications of a possible Harris administration, including a potential hike in the corporate tax rate. We also detailed the legal framework that could support Harris’ anti-price gouging proposals.

A second-term agenda by Trump, meanwhile, has the potential to lead to trade wars, a NATO rethink and the deportation of millions of migrants. Trump has also called for presidents to have a say in Federal Reserve Board policy-making, including interest rate moves.
