Japanese drinks giant Suntory Holdings makes some of the world’s best known brands of spirits, including Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark, as well as soft drinks like Orangina and Lucozade.
Based in Japan but global in outlook, Suntory has made a name for itself by acquiring businesses around the world to offset slowing growth at home. The company is targeting Gen Z for its key canned cocktail segment, with plans to expand in China, Europe and elsewhere.
Tak Niinami, one of the leading voices of corporate Japan, will speak with Reuters Japan Deputy Bureau Chief David Dolan about the outlook for Suntory and Japan Inc at a critical time, as the world’s fourth-largest economy is just emerging from a period of prolonged deflation.
