Santiago de Cuba, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) The revolution has always been in the blood of the Caribbean and we have always had to fight for our interests, said June Soomer, Secretary General of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS).

During the opening of the 16th International ExpoCaribe Fair, Soomer said that when she visited the patrimonial cemetery of Santa Ifigenia she had seen how much humanism it holds and a synthesis of the future of the people in the region, small islands with so many historical ties for centuries.

We have to fight for our place in the world and when it comes to business, it is first and foremost about people, she said, referring to trade that cannot be separated from culture, because that is where better results will come from, and that is the premise of cooperation defended by the ACS.

For his part, Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice President of the Council of Ministers, ratified the importance of foreign investment as part of the updating of the Cuban economic and social model and in the development plan until 2030, with the participation of nations of the Greater Caribbean.

Beatriz Johnson, Vice President of the Council of State and President of the government in the province, emphasized the meaning of the restart of ExpoCaribe, after 11 years and in the midst of the complex conditions derived from the imperial aggression.

Until the next 22nd, the exhibition of goods and services will be held at the Heredia Cultural Center, with the participation of some 84 foreign companies from more than 22 countries and more than 200 from the Cuban provinces, with the leading role of those located from Camaguey to Guantanamo.
