Cayman Islands fire officer Richard McLaughlin is August’s Best
Fire Services Station Officer Richard McLaughlin’s unfailingly excellent work has earned him the Deputy Governor’s Employee of the Month award for August 2015.
With 33 years’ experience in the Cayman Islands Fire Service, Officer McLaughlin is considered an asset by his superiors, and a role model by colleagues.
Renowned for consistent courtesy to his coworkers, he exemplifies, to younger staff, the value of professionalism in every circumstance. This is an especially admirable trait in an emergency service that constantly responds to crisis situations.
Describing him as direct, friendly, and fair, the Deputy Governor noted that the veteran firefighter demands innovation from his staff and encourages their professional development in all aspects of their work.
“It is for these traits and for being named Most Professional that you were chosen for the award,” the Deputy Governor told Mr. McLaughlin.
He encourages younger staff members and new recruits to readily put in their best efforts at work always at the Fire Service, and all other areas of public sector, since individual commitment reflects the quality of collective service.
