From RCIPS

The RCIPS has granted a procession and road closure request to the organizers of Ride Out Cayman (ROC), a motorbike ride that will take place this Sunday, 25 November, from approximately 12PM to 3:30PM. The procession will begin in Industrial Park at 12PM and proceed to East End, then North Side, back through George Town, and ultimately to West Bay (see attached route description and Map 1).  The ride will conclude along the extension road between Willie Farrington Drive and Esterley Tibbetts Highway (ETH) in West Bay, where there will be a skills riding session from until 7PM. (see Map 2)

The RCIPS has met extensively with organizers to facilitate this event, and would like to inform the public of the following:

• As many as 200 motorbike riders are expected to participate in ROC;
• Only legal motorbikes are allowed to participate in the procession, and cars are not allowed;
• The procession will observe all traffic laws, including the speed limit;
• Tactical measures, including checkpoints and barriers staggered around the island, will be deployed during the event to prevent illegal and unsafe riding;
• The public should expect a heavy police presence around the island throughout the day;
• Some delays and inconvenience should be expected by motorists, and the RCIPS asks that the public avoid road travel on Sunday afternoon to the extent possible.

The skills riding session in West Bay on the extension road between ETH and Willie Farrington is open to all motorbikes, including off-road bikes. (see Map 2)  This road will be closed from 12PM onwards so that riders on off-road bikes can assemble there for skills riding.  Off-road bikes that are not road legal should not take part in the “ride out” procession, and should be trailered to and from the closed road for the skills riding session.

“Those who choose to ride illegally and pose a danger to other road users despite the fact that an authorized event has been organized can expect to face the legal consequences.  New legislation provides police with increased powers, which we will use to arrest rogue riders and seize bikes,” said Derek Byrne, Commissioner of Police. “They can either enjoy a fun and legal event with scores of other bikers, or they can break the law, endanger their safety and possibly be hurt or arrested, and lose their bike. The choice is theirs.”

Ride Out Cayman – Route Description

The approximate timings of the procession around Grand Cayman this Sunday, 25 November, are as follows:

11AM – Participants gather at Esso’s Gas Station in Industrial Park;

12PM – Procession Departs Industrial Park towards Crew Road/Linford Pierson Hwy;

12PM – 12:30PM – Procession travels along Shamrock Road and then onto Bodden Town Rd;

Approximately 1PM – Procession is estimated to arrive in East End at 1:00PM;

1:00PM to 1:30PM – East End stop for gas and refreshments;

1:30PM – Procession begins travel around Queens Highway towards Old Robin Road;

1:45PM – Estimated arrival at Old Man Bay (Junction);

1:45PM to 2:00PM – Travel along Frank Sound Road;

2:00PM to 2:30PM – Travel along Bodden Town Road and Shamrock Road;

2:30PM – Estimated arrival in George Town, with travel north from Bobby Thompson Way onto ETH towards West Bay;

3:00PM – Estimated arrival time in West Bay; after passing Yacht Club Roundabout, will travel on WB Road toward WB four-way stop, then unto North West Point Road;

Will then turn onto Water Course Road, Hell Road, Rev Blackman St., West Church Street and the onto Willie Farrington Drive;

Around approximately 3:30PM the procession concludes at the extension road between Willie Farrington and ETH.
