Rider Levett Bucknall Caribbean Participate in Sixth Annual China –Latin America & Caribbean Business Summit Hangzhou, China 17^th & 18^th October

With the growing Chinese investment in the Latin American & Caribbean areas coupled with RLB’s work on several projects in the Caribbean and South America including that of Project Monitor for the Import Export Bank of China on the Baha Mar resort in Nassau, RLB were invited by the China Business Network to participate in the sixth annual China – Latin America & Caribbean Business Summit in Hangzhou China held on 17^th & 18^th October2012. RLB Caribbean’s Chairman, Martyn Bould represented RLB at the event.

The Summit hosted jointly by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Inter-American Development Bank brought together Chinese businesses, lenders and Government Representatives with their counterparts from Latin American and Caribbean countries.

The Summit consists of a series of Presentations and Panel Sessions including Upgrading Bilateral Investment, Equity Investment Platforms for Latin America and the Caribbean, Financial Services and the Real Economy, and Natural Resources and Sustainable Economic Growth as well as a day of matchmaking paring Chinese interests with those in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Summit provided an excellent opportunity to introduce RLB’s Caribbean services to a widening group of clients, as well as meeting many of the Caribbean Ambassadors based in China.

Prior to the Summit RLB was invited to by the China Development Bank to participate in a meeting to familarise the Ambassadors of Caribbean countries with the terms of the US$1b of commercial loans for infrastructural development to Caribbean countries announced by Wang Qi-shan, Vice Premier of China in September 2011. Of particular note was the desire of China Development Bank to approve the loans before the 4^th China-Caribbean Forum in 2014.

Martyn was delighted with the networking opportunities and RLB’s expanding group of friends within China with strong interests in the Caribbean area.
