Slow start to Jamaica’s Caribbean Cup efforts

from Digicel Sports Max

Jamaica’s quest for a sixth lien on the Caribbean Cup started off on a low note after the hosts were held 1-1 by Martinique in their Group B game at the Montego Bay Sports complex today.

Darren Mattocks scored his fourth goal for the Jamaican senior team to give them the lead in the 13th minute, but Yoann Arquin equalised in the 29th after the Jamaican defence failed to clear the ball from their area.

The result left all four teams in the group on one point after Haiti and Antigua & Barbuda had played out a 2-2 draw earlier.

Jamaica should have scored late in the game when they created several chances and substitute Jamar loza got the ball in the back of the net late in the game but it was ruled offside.

Jobi McAnuff was Jamaica’s man of the match as he showed a lot of industry and creativity late in the game as Jamaica went in search of the winner.
