Local IT provider, Ronco, has announced their continued support, through their Hand Up initiative, of the 25 Days of Christmas Toy Drive, as it enters its ninth year consecutive year.

The Toy Drive was established by the daughter of Ronco’s Managing Director, Darrell Hines, Victoria Bise, who was 13 at the time. Her sister Elisabeth took over the initiative recently after Victoria left for college.

2016’s Toy Drive takes place November 28 to December 13, in order to ensure that all donations can be distributed in time for Christmas Day. Donation of toys and gifts for babies through to teenagers can be dropped off at the Cayman Islands Customs Agency, which is located at 39 Ashgo Street, off Godfrey Nixon Way.

Once collected, these gifts are delivered to the Pediatric Ward at the George Town Hospital and to the Children and Family Services Department for distribution.

“What makes the 25 Days of Christmas Toy Drive so special is that it was an initiative created by children for children. Although the girls are now grown up, the sentiment still remains and it is the driving force behind this great project. The feeling of helping others is invaluable and it is this feeling which gets people involved year after year,” Hines said.

“Christmas always brings out the best of people in Cayman and it’s amazing to see how the Toy Drive continues to grow each year. We want to make 2016 the best Toy Drive yet, with the goal of ensuring that there something special under the tree for each of the over 500 foster children in care in our beautiful islands.

“We are extremely grateful to all who are involved in this initiative as they ensure that the Toy Drive is a success year on year. Without their support, the drive wouldn’t be possible,’ Hines said.
