Roy Archer passes away
It was with much sadness to learn of the death of Roy Archer who passed away last Friday (4) morning. iNews sends condolences to his wife, Lilian, and family. Both the publisher, Joan and myself (Editor) have known Roy for many years. When I first arrived here in Cayman thirty years ago Roy was Deputy Commissioner with the RCIPS and he retired with honour from the police. He became a friend and was a faithful member of St. George’s Anglican Church in George Town and renown for his lively humour. He really did make everyone laugh.
Statement from Police Commissioner, David Baines,
“I am saddened to learn of the death of former Deputy Commissioner Roy Archer, and I join my colleagues, past and present, in offering our sincere condolences to Mrs. Archer and her family.
“I salute Mr. Archer for his services to the communities of the Cayman Islands. He remained a highly regarded member of the RCIPS family, remembered with affection by those who knew him and with respect for his capabilities as a Deputy Commissioner.”
Deputy Commissioner Anthony Ennis, said
“The Commissioner has aptly and appropriately articulated the profound sadness that those of us who were fortune enough to know and work with Mr. Roy Archer, our former Deputy Commissioner, feel on his passing. He was the consummate police officer, leader, colleague and friend. That continued into his retirement and up to his death. I join Mr. Baines in conveying our sincerest of condolences to Mrs. Archer and her family.”
The funeral arrangements for the late Roy Archer will be announced later. Roy, rest in piece and continue to make everyone laugh where you are now.
