Royal Caribbean to expand short cruises from Florida [with stops in Cayman]

DSC_2947 jewel of the SealRoyal Caribbean will have five ships sailing short Caribbean and Bahamas cruises out of Florida in 2014 — one more than this year.

The lines says the 1,998-passenger Vision of the Seas will join the 3,634-passenger Liberty of the Seas in offering short voyages from Fort Lauderdale.

Vision of the Seas will operate four- and five-night Caribbean itineraries out of Fort Lauderdale through the summer of 2014. The four-night trips will stop in Cozumel, Mexico, while the five-night trips will alternate between Cozumel and Roatan, Honduras; and Key West, Fla., and Grand Cayman.

Liberty of the Seas will sail four- and five-night Caribbean itineraries out of Fort Lauderdale over the winter of 2014-15.

Also operating short cruises out of Florida in 2014 will be:

— Enchantment of the Seas. The 2,252-passenger ship will sail three- and four-night Bahamas cruises out of Port Canaveral, Fla. that call at Nassau and CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in The Bahamas. The ship is replacing the smaller Monarch of the Seas on the routes.

— Majesty of the Seas. The 2,350-passenger ship will sail three- and four-night Bahamas cruises out of Miami that call at Nassau and CoCoCay (the four-night sailings also call at at Key West, Fla.).

— Brilliance of the seas. The 2,112-passenger ship will sail four- and five- night Caribbean cruises out of Tampa. The four-night trips call at Cozumel, with the five-night cruises bring additional stops at either Key West or Grand Cayman.
