Royal Caribbean International’s Adventure of the Seas, a Voyager-class ship similar to Explorer of the Seas shown attached, rescued two sailors adrift in the Caribbean last week.

Last week, as Royal Caribbean International’s Adventure of the Seas was sailing to Willemstad, Curacao, it spotted a fishing boat which was adrift at sea.

In a statement from the line: “The ship approached the boat and rescued a 22-year-old male from St. Lucia and a 27-year-old male from France.

“The occupants of the boat boarded Adventure of the Seas and received food, water and medical treatment.” As part of the cruise line’s standard procedure, the U.S. Coast Guard was notified.

The St. Lucia Times reports that the small vessel was sailing from Martinique to St. Lucia and experienced engine failure, after which the boaters were adrift at sea for 23 days.

The newspaper also reported that a third man was onboard the small vessel but went overboard after experiencing hallucinations.

Adventure of the Seas, a Voyager-class vessel, was operating a seven-night sailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, with port calls at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; Willemstad, Curacao; Oranjestad, Aruba and Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis.
