Rundown” premieres in Cayman Islands in one Week
In one week actors will take to the stage for “Rundown”.
The show begins 12 May and ends 29 May, with Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows starting at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. There will only be 10 shows in Grand Cayman and one show is planned for Cayman Brac in June.
Now in its 24th year, the annual comedy revue is the brain child of Dave Martins. “Rundown” is a comic review of the latest happenings in The Cayman Islands featuring a talented cast of performers mimicking the news makers of the day.
This year’s stage production is once again written, designed and directed by Henry Muttoo, who took over writing the show from Dave Martins in 2010. Of this year’s production Mr. Muttoo says, “Expect to laugh and be entertained. Want to know whose names will be in Rundown? Come to the show.”
“Rundown has lasted as long as it has because everyone who attends can identify with some topic in the production. The things you poke fun at in your home or with people you bump into at the supermarket, often make it to the Rundown stage – the home of the ‘marl road’,” says CNCF Marketing and Development Manager Rita Estevanovich
Ms. Estevanovich adds, “There is also room for commentary on some of the more serious issues facing the country, but by using comedy to help us swallow the truth, it is a little more palatable,”.
Tickets are currently on sale, at a cost of $25 for adults, $15 for seniors and children under the age of 12. Tickets can be reserved by calling 949-5477 or purchased online at www.artscayman.org/rundown. Outlets include the CNCF Box Office, Foster’s Food Fair (Strand), Funky Tang’s and Health Care Pharmacy in Grand Harbour.
