The superyacht will become part of the Discovery Yachts Program, which supports ocean conservation and preservation projects.

Seagull of Cayman donated to International SeaKeepers Society

The 40-metre Seagull of Cayman, which was on the market for $2.45 million with Northrop & Johnson in Florida, has been donated to the International SeaKeepers Society. The charity promotes oceanographic research, conservation and education, by making use of superyachts either making passages to relevant areas, or whose owners directly provide the use of their yacht for various missions. The Discovery Yacht Program comprises scientific expeditions, instrument deployments and educational outreach events.

Northrop & Johnson has announced that the canoe-stern Feadship, launched in 1980, will also be available for charter, with purchase-to-own options. Molly Canfield, head of marketing and PR at SeaKeepers, says: “SeaKeepers will make capital improvements and hold title for at least three years (IRS requirement). We can use the vessel for Discovery Yacht missions, and we can also charter Seagull to fund future Discovery Yacht missions.”

Seagull of Cayman enjoyed a substantial refit in 2006. She sleeps 12 guests in six staterooms, including a main deck master cabin. The yacht retains much of her original interior woodwork, and her knowledgeable owner and crew have kept her well maintained.
