Senior promotions at Carey Olsen in the Cayman Islands
Mr Golaszewski has a broad range of experience in offshore and investment fund litigation with an emphasis on complex multi-jurisdictional commercial, arbitration and regulatory matters. He was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2003 and as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands in 2008. Before relocating to the territory he practised in the London and Hong Kong offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Carey Olsen’s litigation team across the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey advises clients on the full spectrum of advisory, semi-contentious and contentious work.
Cayman Islands head of litigation, Michael Makridakis, said: “Jan is a highly regarded litigation lawyer who has been recognised in Chambers Global and who has an extensive and reputable case history in the offshore market. Our clients choose to partner with a law firm that is well versed in both domestic and international matters and Jan fits into that model extremely well.
“Our litigation practice in the Cayman Islands is a focussed boutique offering that is supported by a global team of over 30 lawyers providing a very effective depth and breadth of expertise.”
The Cayman Islands office has also promoted trust expert Graham Stoute promoted to counsel. He advises private and institutional clients on Cayman Islands and BVI trusts as well as on wills and estate planning matters, probate applications and the administration of complex estates.
Mr Stoute was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2005, as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands in 2010 and as a solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court (BVI) in 2013. Before moving to the Cayman Islands Graham also formerly worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London.
Cayman Islands managing partner, Jarrod Farley, said: “Jan and Graham’s success reflects our ability to attract, develop and promote high calibre talent and this is driving the impressive growth of our office.”
