NASSAU, Bahamas — GRAMMY-WINNING artiste Shaggy was the highlight of Vibes on the Island benefit concert held at Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort & Offshore Island recently.

Over 600 guests were on hand to witness his performance.

There was also a performance by The Royal Bahamas Police Force Pop Band.

Hosted by Sandals Foundation in association with The Coca-Cola Company and Caribbean Bottling Company Bahamas, the fundraiser was in aid of The PACE (Providing Access to Continued Education) Programme and the local charity’s building fund.

The PACE programme provides education and support to teenage mothers and promotes awareness to help reduce teen pregnancy among young adults in The Bahamas.

“The Sandals Foundation is very proud to continue its partnership with PACE, which strives to make a remarkable impact on the lives of many young girls, changing the outcome for future generations,” said Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts International and president of the Sandals Foundation.

“The money raised here this evening will go to further educational opportunities that are crucial to community development here in The Bahamas,” he continued.

Shaggy said the education and the continuing support to teen parents was high on his list of concerns.

“I have always done music with a purpose and anytime I have the opportunity to perform for a cause, it is a blessing. It is great to be performing at this wonderful charity event for all my reggae fans here in the Bahamas,” he said.

Other key sponsors included: Sandals Resorts International, Columbian Emeralds International, CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, Flight Centre Canada, Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, Caribbean Producers Jamaica, EcoLab, Sysco of Miami and Sysco Bahamas Food Services and The Nassau Guardian Limited.
