Shining Stars Childhood Care and Education Centre in the Cayman Islands offer another first
Parents of children enrolled at Shining Stars are benefitting from the first use of biometric technology in childcare and educational services in the Cayman Islands.
“This is great. I love it.” says one parent. Another said “It is so quick. It is cool.”
Mrs. Lorraine Bobb-Stuart, the principal of Shining Stars, says the parents are extremely pleased with the system. “Many of our parents are well versed in technology and have adapted well to the system.”
The biometric system includes a scanner that uniquely identifies each parent. It then checks to see if that person is authorized to check out the child from the Centre. This is extremely important in the cases of domestic custody disputes, etc. as only those with permission are allowed to check the child out.
Mrs. Bobb-Stuart states “With the increase in domestic disputes and custody issues here on the Island, we felt the need to better protect the children here at Shining Stars. The use of this technology helps in this regard.”
