Simmonds pledges UK’s support for OT’s
The DG also reported that the Overseas Territories (OT) Minister, Mark Simmonds addressed the conference and pledged the UK’s support for OT’s and solicited comments from the group as to how the UK could improve not only the Civil Service of respected countries but also their economies.
The draft policy review of Private Gainful Employment was discussed including the Aim, Policy Statement and considerations of the policy.
DG Manderson said he intended to develop a reform strategy for the Civil Service. He solicited the assistance of CO’s in developing the strategy and stated that he intended to consult widely throughout the Civil Service.
CO Jennifer Ahearn thanked all those who attended the Healthcare 20/20 Conference and updated everyone on her attendance at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Conference in Barbados. The conference, entitled – The Universal Health Coverage Agenda in the Caribbean focused on promoting policy dialogue on policy options and best practices in developing health financing systems that support moving towards UHC in the Caribbean, identifying main challenges and way forward to guarantee the sustainability of this coverage. The CO’s attendance at this conference was funded by PAHO.
It was announced Government Finance Professional week would be held from 26-30 November. This conference is mandatory for all CFO’s and Deputy CFO’s. There would be a number of speakers including, but not limited to, HE the Governor, the Deputy Governor, the Financial Secretary and the CO for the Portfolio of Internal & External Affairs.
Other items discussed included the retirement of the Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Orrett Connor on 5th February, 2013, New York DoT staff in the path of Hurricane Sandy, the passing of Civil Servant Wosila Rochester, flu shots, and 42% of performance Agreements had been completed as of 26th October, 2012.
