From Cruise Fever

Royal Caribbean, known for their award winning cruise ships, currently has six cruise ships that are either on order or are currently under construction

These six ships, (two Oasis class, two Quantum Ultra class, and two Icon class) will all go into service in the next seven years and promise to raise the standard by which all current mega cruise ships are measured. After the successful debut of their 3rd Oasis class ship (Harmony of the Seas) last year, here are the six ships that Royal Caribbean has coming out in the next seven years.

Oasis Class

The Oasis class ships are the largest cruise ships in the world and the cruise line has two more of them coming out.

Symphony of the Seas, which will be the largest cruise ship in the world, will debut in April 2018 with the 5th Oasis class (currently unnamed) coming out in 2021. With Royal Caribbean building a new world class terminal at PortMiami that will be able to accommodate an Oasis class ship, Symphony of the Seas will be based in the Cruise Capital of the World.  The ship will sail week long cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

Quantum Ultra Class

Royal Caribbean has two Quantum Ultra class ships on order, with delivery dates of 2019 and 2020. Of the three Quantum class ships currently in service, two are currently based in China.  These 168,000 gross ton ships can carry 4,180 passengers at double occupancy and are among the most technologically advanced cruise ships in the world.

The first Quantum Ultra class ship, Spectrum of the Seas, will debut in 2019. This revolutionary Quantum Ultra ship will specifically be designed for guests in China and the Asia-Pacific region, and will feature cutting-edge and unprecedented experiences and amenities.

Icon Class

A brand new class of ships for Royal Caribbean, two Icon class ships have been ordered with delivery dates in 2022 and 2024.  While Royal Caribbean has yet to release many details on these new builds, we do know that they will be powered by LNG and each carry 5,000 passengers.

They are expected to be around 200,000 gross tons in size, roughly 10% smaller than the Oasis class ships.

These six cruise ships will cost an estimated $6.7 billion to build.
