Skateboard for cats
An electric skateboard for cats (treats included)
From Core77
Designer: KIM PIMMEL Client: MIDI
I built an electric skateboard for my cat to ride. Put a treat into the throttle lever, and she pulls it to get a snack and a boost!
As a lead interaction designer for augmented reality at Adobe, I like to experiment at the fringes of UX design. My Pet Projects series investigates whether my cat MIDI is able to use affordances such as buttons, levers and switches, and if she can do things like play games, drive a vehicle and more.
The latest project, electric skateboard that I built for MIDI, has a throttle lever with a hole in it where treats go. Put a treat into the throttle lever, and she pulls it to get a snack and give the board a boost.
The board was prototyped and built using a Glowforge for custom housings, scavenged parts from electronics, some off the shelf electric skateboard drivetrain components, and a Adafruit Feather microcontroller.
