Sketch comedy show “CayTube Live” comes to Prospect Playhouse

CayTubeLiveLogo1CayTube Live is a sketch comedy show being presented by the Cayman Drama Society at the Prospect Playhouse for nine performances over three weekends from May 1st to May 17th.

Director, Peter Kosa and Producer, Malcolm Ellis first presented CayTube Live in January 2012, as a sketch comedy show with a TV theme and a Cayman twist. The show format was very popular, and the limited run of 4 shows sold out quickly. By popular demand, they decided to mount an entirely new version of CayTube Live, with all new material, and to expand it to a full run of 9 performances.

Auditions were held late last year, and some of the original performers are back, along with some new faces. A small team of comedy writers, with lead writer, Michelle Morgan, developed dozens of potential sketches to be included in the show. All of the sketches have some connection with the television theme, but they were also written with a Cayman slant to them. With sketch titles like “FOI”, “Restaurant Rollover” and “Northward Ritz”, locals, expats and visitors will all find some familiarity with the show’s hilarious content. There’s no profanity in the show, but it is intended for an adult audience. The show is very fast-paced – a bit like watching television (including some parody “commercials”), when someone else has the remote control in their hand and keeps flipping channels. There is no time to be bored by this show!

CayTube Live features a mix of both Caymanians and expats, with many familiar faces from the local theatre scene, as well as some new ones. The cast includes Julissa Castillo, Malcolm Ellis, Jacoline Frank, Gwynneth Hamilton, Mary Anne Kosa, Peter Kosa, Michael McLaughlin, Soraya Moghadass, Wendy Moore, Michelle Morgan, Teri Quappe, Vijay Singhera, Martin Tedd and Dominic Wheaton.

Performances are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from May 1 to May 17 at 7:30 PM. The lobby bar opens at least half an hour before the show, so stop by for happy hour drinks at great prices, and get ready to laugh. With only nine performances, this show will sell out quickly. To avoid disappointment, book your tickets early, by calling 938-1998 or emailing [email protected]. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for youths.
