Smoothie King donates to Special Olympics Cayman Islands
Smoothie King proudly made a donation of $500 to the Special Olympics Cayman Islands (SOCI) in support of the organization and its athletes.
The donation from Smoothie King further honours their recent sponsorship of the 23rd Annual Flowers One Mile Sea Swim. The race took place earlier this month at the Seven Mile Beach where participants also got to enjoy free smoothies from Smoothie King. All proceeds of the race were generously donated to SOCI.
Nick Freeland, Chairman of SOCI said, “These charitable donations are not just important to us but to all of our athletes who work very hard and give their best to accomplish all that they have.”
“We are very pleased to be able to contribute to such an important cause and help SOCI athletes achieve their goals in the Special Olympics competitions,” said Gary Watler, Co-Owner and Manager of Smoothie King Cayman Islands. “We strive to make a difference in the community and it’s imperative that we continue to support our local charities.”
Penny McDowall, Head Coach in Aquatics at SOCI added, “We are very thankful for this donation from Smoothie King. We will be using these funds to assist our athletes with the expenses that will be incurred for the 2015 World Games. Our athletes and coaches are looking forward to attending and competing in these international games.”
The SOCI athletes are currently working hard in preparation to compete in the upcoming 2015 Special Olympics World Games next month in Los Angeles, California. This is a competition that platforms the true bravery, soul, and willpower of a Special Olympics athlete.
