SportsMax launches new channel with more English Premier League
On 15 August, Caribbean sports cable broadcaster SportsMax launches a second 24-hour sports channel, SportsMax2 across the Caribbean. This news comes as Fox Networks restructures channel offerings with a focus on the US market. SportsMax2 will replace Fox Soccer Plus on channel 202. Fox Soccer Plus moves to channel 11, as Fox Networks discontinues Fox Soccer Channel.
Together SportsMax and SportsMax2 will offer the region’s most expansive and exclusive sports coverage of cricket, football, track & field, tennis, golf, high school sports and more, including additional content from Premier League TV. The two channels will air 320 Barclays Premier League matches (70 more than ever broadcast in the Caribbean before).
BPL coverage kicks off on 17 August with self-anointed “Special One” Jose Mourinho leading Chelsea against Hull and Manchester United, sans Alex Ferguson, facing Swansea. Weststar TV will have two “Free View” weekends: 17-18 August and 23-24 August. All WestStar customers will have free access to channel 202 during that time.
