Spring is in the air at Cayman Prep
Saturday the 17th of March marked an important occasion for Division 25B’s Key Clubs: the annual Spring Zone Rally held this year at Cayman Prep and High School.
The Spring Zone Rally (SZR) is an annual event in each Key Club Division’s calendar held by the division’s current Lieutenant Governor, which in the Cayman Islands’ case is Miss Diana Tibbetts (pictured 6th from right).
It is at the SZR that newly elected club officers receive training and all attendees participate in workshops as well as vote for the division’s new Lieutenant Governor. This year, not only did attendees enjoy a hands-on service project (reading with children at the Kiwanis Book Mobile) but also got to serve with the Florida District—of which the Cayman Islands is a part —Key Club Governor 2011-2012, Doug Ream (pictured 6th from the left).
As well as Governor Doug, the Caymanian Key Clubbers also got to meet the District Administrator David McCampbell (pictured 3rd from left), Zone Administrators Emilia and Chuck Gugliuzza (pictured 4th and 5th from left) and Amanda Hernandez, (pictured 5th from right) a Lieutenant Governor from the Florida District who travelled to campaign for her run for District Governor this year at the Key Club Florida District Convention, May 10-13.
This experience not only left those who attended with a motivation to continue serving Cayman’s community but also reminded them that “Key Club is a lot bigger than Cayman, it’s worldwide, and together we can make a difference” as quoted by the newly elected 2012-2013 Lieutenant Governor, Alexandra Franklin from St. Ignatius’ Key Club (second picture).
Working alongside her will be Kelsie Woodman-Bodden (pictured 2nd from left) from John Gray, who is dubbed the 2012-2013 Assistant Lieutenant Governor. Both girls hope to increase motivation within the clubs to give back to Cayman’s community, as it is “the least we can do to repay our community for the support it has given us”, as quoted by Miss Woodman-Bodden.
